CODIMISA’s sales reps visit clients to close deals and collect payments, and only return to their offices once a week. They were carrying mobile devices that didn’t have phone or email functionality, and data was not synchronized with the company’s ERP system. When sales reps entered product orders on their devices, the data would accumulate on the device’s memory until it was transferred. As a result, information was not regularly backed up and data was vulnerable to loss or theft, or it could be accidentally erased. Once the sales reps uploaded a week of sales orders to the company’s back-end system, it would create a backlog of work for divisions that processed deliveries and billing. Without access to customer account information and payment status, sales reps were also unable to collect outstanding invoices while visiting clients.


CODIMISA gave its sales reps BlackBerry® smartphones and deployed the application MobilGes Ventas, developed by BlackBerry® Alliance Member, Soluciones Estratégicas S.A.. Sales reps use the BlackBerry app to submit product orders, access inventory lists and view client accounts directly from their BlackBerry smartphones.
