Challenge initially offered movie services exclusively through its website. After identifying that users between the ages of 18 and 34 increasingly use their mobile devices to watch movies, the company explored ways to enter the mobile market and grow its business.

The company realized that in order to take advantage of this mobile shift and keep its customers coming back, it would also have to offer a new and improved movie-watching experience.


The company deployed, a free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet application available for download from the BlackBerry App World™ storefront that allows users to choose from a variety of menu options, including free movies, an expanded catalogue of more than 700 movies for rent, or on-demand mobile video access to frequently updated pay-per-view movies.

With the app, users can either watch movies directly on their BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or enjoy a “home theater” experience by connecting the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to a television using an HDMI cable.
