Connections

Wi-Fi

Go anywhere and stay in touch by connecting to Wi-Fi Hotspots

How does it work?

Move from home to the coffee shop to the airport and to the office without missing a beat while connecting to Wi-Fi® Hotspots wherever they're available. By using Wi-Fi, you could lower data costs by browsing, instant messaging and downloading apps on the go without using your data plan.

If you can’t find a Wi-Fi Hotspot, simply turn on Mobile Hotspot on your BlackBerry® smartphone, found under Manage Connections, and create a hotspot. Then share it by connecting up to five Wi-Fi devices at once.1 You can even pull up documents on your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet while tethering it to your fully functional BlackBerry smartphone and still have three other devices connected.

GPS

Know where you stand, even when you’re on the move

How does it work?

Your BlackBerry smartphone features GPS (Global Positioning System) capabilities that work with BlackBerry® Maps and other location-based apps. Use GPS on your BlackBerry smartphone to pinpoint your location, features or friends around you, and get turn-by-turn directions to restaurants, businesses and other destinations.

The new BlackBerry Maps application on BlackBerry 10 smartphones features spoken turn by turn navigation, beautiful, clear 2D and 3D maps, and real time traffic alerts. It also automatically imports all your contacts addresses so you don’t have to go hunting or copy and paste.

Bluetooth

Connect your BlackBerry device wirelessly to speakers, headphones and so much more

How does it work for your BlackBerry smartphone?

Your BlackBerry smartphone features Bluetooth® technology that allows you to connect wirelessly with any other Bluetooth device. This means you can make hands-free calls with a headset and stream music wirelessly to your speakers.

How does it work for your PlayBook tablet?

Use Bluetooth technology to connect your PlayBook tablet to accessories like the BlackBerry® Mini Keyboard and BlackBerry® Music Gateway. Enjoy more screen space while typing long emails with the BlackBerry Mini Keyboard. And wirelessly play the music on your tablet through your home stereo or car stereo with the BlackBerry Music Gateway.

You can also connect your PlayBook tablet with your BlackBerry smartphone with BlackBerry® Bridge™. With BlackBerry Bridge, you can use your smartphone as a keyboard and mouse for your tablet and open files, pictures and websites directly on your PlayBook tablet from a Menu option on your smartphone.
