Continue to Step 4: Add a User Account to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
Add a User Account to BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software v5.0 and Higher
Follow the steps below to add a user account:
- In the BlackBerry® Administration Service, on the BlackBerry solution management menu, expand User.
- Click Create user.
- Search for a user account.
- Select the check box beside the display name for the user account and click Continue.
- If your organization's environment includes more than one BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, select the BlackBerry Enterprise Server you want to add the user account to and click Continue.
- In the Set activation password section, type and confirm an activation password. The password mustn't contain special characters. Some BlackBerry smartphones don't support special characters and don’t unlock when a user types a password that contains special characters.
- In the Password expiration field, type the amount of time, in hours, you want to elapse before the activation password expires.
- Click Create user.
When adding an account to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, consider the following:
- For information on activating a device using Enterprise Activation, read the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center article How to set the wireless Enterprise Activation password.
- For assistance troubleshooting Enterprise Activation issues, read the BlackBerry Technical Solution Center article Identifying and troubleshooting issues with the enterprise activation process.
- Note: your user account can only be created on one BlackBerry Enterprise Server at a time. If you have the same user account created on multiple BlackBerry Enterprise Servers, it won’t work properly.
- If you add a user account that was previously on another BlackBerry Enterprise Server, ensure the account has been removed from the old BlackBerry Enterprise Server and delete all user data from the smartphone before attempting to add to the new BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Learn how to delete all data or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone.
- For information on implementing a BlackBerry smartphone onto your BlackBerry Enterprise Server, review the Assigning BlackBerry devices to user accounts section within the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Administration Guide.
