Overview

For each major version of the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and associated components, the common platform and required third-party software are integrated and released as the recommended environment. This environment is the configuration against which test plans were executed with the release of the service pack.

Status of Third-party Platform Configuration

As new versions of third-party components are released, or as legacy versions become unsupported, the varying configuration scenarios may be supported in different ways by Research In Motion (RIM).

BlackBerry Enterprise Server Compatibility Matrix

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server compatibility matrix shows the various combinations of third-party software components that have been reviewed for compatibility. It identifies the recommended environment for each service pack, as well as the support status for other environments.

Status Definition

There are five possible states for various configurations of BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and third-party software components.

Each of these states has a corresponding scope of service, as provided by Research In Motion (RIM).

Configuration State Definition Scope of Support Service
Recommended The best case scenario environment RIM recommends to all customers for the particular platform. All issues are addressed as “normal” by BlackBerry® Technical Support Services and RIM Development.
Pending New version of third-party components is currently being assessed by RIM. BlackBerry Technical Support Services will continue to support a customer with a configuration in this state. Service may be provided on a ‘reasonable efforts’ basis.
Supported / Limited Support The configuration has been assessed and is supported, but may not be in synch with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server release or service pack. BlackBerry Technical Support Services continues to support BlackBerry software; however, there may be environments in which support is provided on a ‘reasonable efforts’ basis.
Not Recommended Compatibility issues have been found and RIM does not recommend the installation of the configuration. RIM reserves the right to not support BlackBerry Enterprise Server issues related to the components that are not recommended.
Sunset A once recommended or supported configuration is no longer supported. RIM may provide recommendations on migration to new versions of BlackBerry Enterprise Server software. The legacy configuration will not be supported by RIM.
